With so much demand for cardiology services in the Northern Territory, our client is looking to grow the team of Specialists by a 0.5 appointment.  Flexible appointments including VMO may be available depending on your skillset and availability.

The range of conditions, cross-cultural blend of patients and combination of rural and remote localities makes practising in the Northern Territory a unique, very interesting and rewarding experience.

This vacancy  is with a well established private cardiology service contracted to the State Government to provide cardiac diagnostic services including echocardiography and diagnostic coronary angiography, to public patients in the Northern Territory. This combined public and private practice arrangement has been considered unique and has provided a high standard of care for both the public and private sectors. 

A successful candidate would be expected to participate in a regular on call roster and ward rounds, student and junior doctor education, clinics at regional hospitals (Alice Springs, Katherine, Gove and Tennant Creek) and out reach Cardiology clinics at remote Aboriginal communities. 

Through the affiliation with Flinders University, the Cardiology Department has developed a close working relationship with the Cardiology services at Flinders Medical Centre, South Australia. This has also resulted in the provision of revascularisation services, weekly cardiothoracic teleconferences, visiting services, back filling of staff, and an advanced trainee cardiology registrar. 

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Northern Territory Medical Board together with a Cardiology accredited Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent specialist overseas qualifications.
