Our client is looking for an experienced Emergency Medicine Senior Medical Officer.
The hospital is part of South Australia's largest health region, employing more than 16,000 staff across around 200 separate health units and services.
The ED currently sees more than 33,000 patients annually, including 28% Paediatric, with an admission rate of around 30%. This ED is general in nature and major traumas are directed to other more suitable hospitals. It is a popular location for both Emergency and General/Family Practice trainees as it provides are wide array of patient experiences. The department is well supported by hospital Staff Specialists and visiting consultants.
The region brings together four major acute hospitals of which this is one along with significant mental health and primary health care services. The region also delivers all of South Australias public pathology services, two major state-wide health services (BreastScreen SA and the SA Dental Service) and has an annual operating budget in excess of $1.7billion.
The region covers 39 Statistical Local Areas, 14 Local Government Areas and boasts a population of more than 760,000 residents, around half of the South Australias entire population!
